| SUNTUF
SUNTUF sheets are rigid, transparent Corrugated
Polycarbonate sheets. Polycarbonate is one of the
most advanced polymers in use in plastics today. Polycarbonate
features a combination of characteristics –
among which are: strength, light transmission, flexibility,
lightweight, transparency, wide temperature range
etc. SUNTUF has become the leading material in greenhouse
roofing, thanks to its selective light transmission
profile structure, temperature extremes durability
and long service expectancy. All over the world, remarkable
agricultural achievements have been made possible
under the SUNTUF roofing. SUNTUF sheets are also used
in continuous lighting surfaces, partitions and shelters
in industrial and public buildings, as well as in
any other structure in which external light sources
are used for internal illumination.
Product Range
There are several types of standard SUNTUF sheets,
suitable for various uses:
• Trapeze, GRECA profile
• Corrugated, IRONWAVE profile
• INDUSTRIAL profile
Manufactured according to customer specification.
Thickness: 0.8 to 1mm.
Other thickness is available upon request.
Standard tints: glass-clear, solar-gray and white-opal.
Other tints are available upon request. |

Main Features
SUNTUF sheets combine thermal, physical, mechanical and optical
properties providing the user with excellent solutions to
a wide range of applications. The combination of properties
presented here, places SUNTUF sheets in the forefront of building
materials for covering greenhouses and other structures requiring
external lighting.
Light Transmission
SUNTUF sheets feature an extremely high level of transparency.
They transmit approx. 90% of all visible radiation, which
is 15% more than double-layer sheets of the same material.
White opal sheets transmit approx. 45% of the visible light,
while solar gray transmits approx. 35%.
Radiation Filtering
SUNTUF sheets transmit radiation selectively. They form a
complete shield against harmful ultraviolet rays which may
scorch crops, while admitting most of the visible light, essential
to crop health and photosynthesis. By completely blocking
the far-infrared rays, SUNTUF prevents heat loss at night.
Flammability
SUNTUF sheets have very low flammability rating and do not
emit toxic gases when burning. They are less flammable than
fiberglass or acrylic.
Weathering
Actual outdoor exposure for over 8 years in California and
Israel has proven that the impact, in terms of hail resistance
(high velocity impact) is fully maintained, as well as the
optical properties in terms of light transmission and yellowing.
In addition to this, accelerated weathering in Arizona and
in the lab, at equivalents of up to 30 years, show predicted
life expectancy of 20-30 years.
Climatic Performance
SUNTUF sheets perform flawlessly under harsh, extreme climatic
conditions. Service temperature range is –30°C to
+ 120°C, enabling unlimited use throughout the world.
Impact strength
SUNTUF sheets are unbreakable. They are impervious to impact,
such as that caused by hammers, tools or stones. This feature
makes SUNTUF more durable than fiberglass, glass or acrylic,
all of which break easily during installation and service.
Chemical Stability
SUNTUF sheets are impervious to attack by a wide variety of
chemical substances. It is important, however, that sheets
do not come in contact with chemicals that are not compatible
with Polycarbonates, such as certain types of solvents, paints
and adhesives.
Compatibility of materials can be checked at the PALTOUGH
R&D Department.
Thermal Insulation
SUNTUF’s heat conductivity is lower than fiberglass
(FRP) sheets. It therefore loses less heat in greenhouses.
These features facilitate considerable heating cost cuts,
in comparison with fiberglass.
Lightweight
SUNTUF is 1/8 the weight of Std. 4mm glass per Sqm. Thanks
to this feature, SUNTUF can be installed at any height, in
any sort of structure. Transporting the sheets and installing
them is extremely simple, cutting construction and manpower
costs.
Easy Installation
SUNTUF can be tooled using all ordinary tools. They are ideal
for handymen and D.I.Y. users. Mounting SUNTUF on roofs is
simple and easy. It is also easily cut and shaped. SUNTUF
Iron and Greca can be curved at minimum Radii of 4000mm.
Warranty
Among SUNTUF’s many features, its retention of quality
over many years is one of the most important. Therefore, unlike
similar materials, it is rarely necessary to replace it. The
manufacturer also guarantees SUNTUF against adverse climatic
effects. Consult your distributor for details.
